Duncan is a true professional. He puts professional integrity at the forefront. I instructed Duncan for a prepurchase survey. After reading the sales description he told me that the boat was unsafe and would be costly to rectify if I brought the boat. Duncan from Better Boats first surveyed a boat we were interested in but as soon as he found a serious problem with the hull he terminated the rest of the survey and billed us a very modest fee. Because of the above we instructed him to survey a Moody 31 on the hard at Neyland. His survey was very thorough and also informative. I recently commissioned Duncan to survey the Sadler 29 I was interested in buying in Wales (did buy in fact). I was very happy with the extremely thorough survey report he made for me, likewise his going the extra mile by way of telephone comms to help me make my decision. Duncan provided a first class service. He carried out a pre purchase survey within a couple of days of asking and was very thorough and provided a comprehensive report. It’s a no brainer to have a full survey before purchasing a used boat, it can save a lot of heartache and expense… which was certainly our experience. I'm currently looking for a boat and have quickly found out that buying for the first time is a complex, stressful and, if you get it wrong, a potentially expensive business; unless you invest in a survey from Better Boats Ltd. Duncan recently surveyed a boat for me and the service he gave was superb. Having arranged the survey directly with the current owner Duncan quickly delivered a comprehensive and detailed report which allowed me to make a considered decision about the purchase. His communication was excellent, with Duncan calling me in advance of receiving the written report to talk through the survey and discuss his findings,  and the support and guidance he gave throughout the process was exemplary. Duncan carried out a detailed survey on a Hurley Duette which I had  bought twelve months ago. Whilst I have sailed for a number of years this is the first boat I have owned and I wanted a thorough survey to alert me to any issues that needed attention. The report Duncan produce was exactly what I wanted giving me a list of the various shortcoming but more important a traffic light indication of the importance and priority of the items raised. I am very happy to recommend Duncan to anyone who has concerns about their boat and wants an  impartial and professional report.
